February reads

I’ve hit a reading slump this month, but all the reads I enjoyed turned out to be 4 or 5 stars. I can’t complain! Many of the books I read were recurring authors, I enjoyed reading more of their novels. Now March will bring the Irish fiction/Ireland based books!

Bad Mormon by Heather Gay [4/5]

Being a fan of ‘Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’, I was really intrigued when Heather Gay’s memoir was released early February. On the show she had shared how she had a Mormon upbringing. The book covers a lot of that, from her childhood to adulthood. It was a very interesting read as I wasn’t really aware of the depth of the Mormon culture. Some things were eye opening! Don’t go into this book expecting juicy gossip behind RHSLC, you won’t find any, but don’t let that stop you from reading this book!

Diddly Squat ’Til the Cows Come Home by Jeremy Clarkson [5/5]

I have followed Jeremy Clarkson from his days on Top Gear and The Grand Tour. His latest show on Amazon Prime, CLARKSON’S FARM is one of my favorite series. Clarkson is one of the funniest guy! I read his previous novel, Diddly Squat which was a recap of Season 1. This book is similar, a recap of Season 2 which is currently streaming. There are more details that weren’t showed on the series though making this a worthwhile to read!

Someone Else’s Shoes by Jojo Moyes [5/5]

I’ve never read any books by Jojo Moyes and she’s a popular author. I don’t know why it took me so long but I fell in love with this one! It was so adorable. I binge read this in a day. I loved the sisterhood of the girls, going on a mission together and the friendship it created. I felt like I was a part of the squad, if only! I’m excited to read more of her novels.

Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid [5/5]

I am so surprised at how much I loved this book! I don’t follow tennis, so I was worried that I wouldn’t understand the rules of the game, terms, etc. This book was easy to understand, I was immersed in the story. I felt all the emotions in the book. Now I want to watch some pro tennis!

How to Walk Away by Katherine Center [5/5]

You might have noticed that I’ve read several of Katherine Center’s books by now. You never can go wrong with her books. I really enjoy how realistic and relatable her romance novel are. This novel was really emotional but hopeful. I felt like I was along Maggie on her journey and rooting for her all the way to the end. This is definitely one of my favorite Katherine Center novels - whew!

The Housemaid Secret by Freida McFadden [5/5]

I read THE HOUSEMAID last month so when this sequel was released during early February, I had to get my hands on it! This read was just as suspenseful, keeping me on the edge of my seat! The twists definitely are jaw-dropping, and you’ll never guess the ending. That’s what I really like about Freida’s novels! Also the perfect book to get you out of a reading slump.

Also read in February, a blog is forthcoming closer to the release date:

Small Town Sins by Ken Jaworowski [August 1st]
