Mystic Restaurant Week

Tomorrow starts the Mystic Restaurant Week in the beautiful coastal town of Mystic, Connecticut! A bi-annual event that happens every March and November and is a favorite of mine to attend. Mystic is a foodie destination with so many good restaurants. It’s hard to pick sometimes where to go dine. This week is a good opportunity to visit a restaurant you haven’t been to, so you can sample more food for affordable prices. Most restaurants offer 3-courses from appetizer, the main entree and dessert. Sometimes wine/beer is included. The prices are fixed with average of $15 for lunch and $25 for dinner. Can’t beat that!

I haven’t been to all of the restaurants that are participating in the restaurant week so I’m looking forward to trying out some new ones as well go to my old favorites. I’ll start off with the restaurants that I have been to:

Captain Daniel Packer Inne is a tavern/restaurant in a restored 1756 building. The building preserved the original structural details such as fireplaces, mantles, and beams. There’s a lot of history at DPI! The tavern is in the lowest level with fine dining upstairs. I previously ate in their tavern and the food was delicious!

Latitude 41 is a favorite, I attend their Easter brunch annually. Located right next to the Mystic Seaport Museum, it sits on the Mystic River offering scenic views while you dine. The food at Latitude 41 has always been good. I’m particularly looking forward to clam chowder (one of the best in the area!) and seafood risotto that will be offered during restaurant week.

Engine Room has actually became a favorite of mine after eating there during restaurant week a few years ago! Located in restored Lathrop Marine Engine building with the largest bourbon selection. The place has a rustic feeling to it, creating a cozy environment. Their food is just off the charts. I love that they are very focused on farm-to-table, using a lot of food from local farms and fishermen. Their sister restaurants, Oyster Club and Grass & Bone are also participating. I haven’t gone to both, but excited to try them out this week.

Noah’s in Stonington is a long time favorite. I feel like I’m going over to my Grandma’s house with their homemade comfort food. The restaurant is a very relaxing environment with friendly service. It is a beloved local spot.

Mango’s Pizza is located in the Olde Mistick Village. It is one of my top 5 favorite pizza joints in the area. Their selection for restaurant week has plenty to choose from. Be sure to sample the wood fire wings and their pizza. They’re offering spaghetti and meatballs pizza - I’m very intrigued! Wine/beer is included in the fixed price for restaurant week.

Red 36 is THE best scenic restaurant in Mystic sitting on the waterfront. This restaurant is a long time favorite, I have been going there since they opened. They have a huge selection to pick from for restaurant week. You can’t really go wrong with any choices, their food is amazing.

Anthony J’s Bistro is my favorite restaurant to go for a romantic date. Italian restaurant with a cocktail bar, it is very cozy and intimate. They’re offering ravioli for lunch option which is always a favorite to order. Their dinner options are as good - really, you won’t be disappointed! This is my husband’s favorite restaurant in Mystic! NOTE: They aren’t listed on Mystic Restaurant Week website but they posted their participation with a menu on their Facebook page.

Steak Loft is your typical steakhouse. I went there for the first time during the last restaurant week. It’s cozy environment with good portions of food. Their bread pudding dessert that is being offered is delicious!

The Mariner has the best nautical interior decor. If you walk down the hall to the restrooms, you will see the ropes on the wall that were created by Mystic Knotwork. Love how local businesses supports each other! Their ravioli that is being offered for restaurant week is good!

Bravo Bravo recently made the move from their old location across the street. I never had been to the old restaurant but was intrigued to check them out in the new spot. They have the most stylish decor! Very timeless. The restaurant has a very romantic atmosphere and is this is a great spot for a date!

Rocks 21 is located at the Inn of Mystic, perched on the hill next to Mystic Harbor. It has a nice waterfront view. I just tried them out for the first time during summer. They are offering seafood classics during restaurant week.
