Newport International Boat Show

In 2016, I made my first trip to Newport located on Aquidneck Island in Rhode Island. I immediately fell in love with that city! I’ve been back numerous times since then, including some special occasions celebrations.

This past summer I won a giveaway on Instagram sponsored by Discover Newport. They had posted a giveaway to promote the Newport International Boat Show which was coming this weekend. The giveaway included 4 tickets to the show, a bag from SeaBags Maine, and $100 gift card to Helly Hansen store. For a chance to win, I had to follow those Instagram accounts (which I already was!) and tell them what my favorite thing about boating is. I told them that I love to see how happy my Dalmatian is when she’s on the boat, she sits up front of the boat inhaling the breeze!

Today, I went to Newport International Boat Show for the first time. It was overwhelming, the BIGGEST boating show I’ve ever been to! It took up the entire Newport waterfront. I found out then that it was one of the largest boat shows in the country. There were many exhibitors and vendors selling everything boating related.

There were many boats of all kinds for sale at the show, one of the best parts of attending the show was touring all the beautiful boats. I only can dream to own one of them someday! I toured some yachts which I dreamed of lounging on the patio or eating in the open air dining patio! It amazed me to see how they constructed the bedrooms, bathrooms, and rooms on the boats.

There were many educational seminars at the Newport International Boat show - navigation, reading weather, classes for new boaters, or refreshers for improving boating skills.

It was a gorgeous day for the boat show. It definitely felt like a summer day on the waterfront. I was very glad that Fishers Island Lemonade had a booth there because they’re my favorite drink to have on a summer day like today!

After I finished walking around the International Boat Show, I went to see the Wooden Boat Show that was happening over at Bowen’s Wharf which was next door. As usual, I enjoyed touring the wooden boats. It was my first time to tour a wooden boat yacht! I was amazed by the beauty of all wood inside. It was custom built by a private company that valued it at $6.5 million dollars! I only can dream, right?

I recommend a day at the boat show if you love boating. It sure was an event for anyone with boating passion and boat owners!
