December reads

A summary of my December reads:

The Santa Suit [5/5]

The cutest book to start off December! A short, quick read that takes place in a small town and is about the magic of the Santa suit. I enjoyed every bit of this book, and it’s something that I would re-read at the holidays time!

Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing

Being a huge fan of the Friends TV show, it was a must for me to read Matthew Perry’s memoir. It was a honest, blunt and tough story to read. As many have said, I didn’t realize the severity of his addiction. I do have to warn you that it is depressing to read, so be sure you are in the right mind space to handle this subject. The only negative thing that I have about this book is that it changed how I will view some of the Friends episodes he talked about, but it’s not so impactful that I will stop watching the reruns.

Dear Santa [3/5]

A steamy holiday romance read by Kristen Granata. I previously read her book ‘Bring Me Back’. I like reading her books when I need something easy and quick to read.

Have I Told You This Already? [4/5]

I’m the biggest fan of Gilmore Girls so I had to read Lauren Graham’s memoir. This contains many short stories of her life. Don’t expect to read anything about Gilmore Girls - there isn’t much about it in the book. I enjoyed Lauren’s storytelling.

Five Survive [5/5]

Holly Jackson is one of those must-buy authors after reading ‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ even through I hated the final book. This new release book was INTENSE! It kept me on my toes, so it’s a page turner. I couldn’t put this book down!

The Prisoner [4/5]

Many of my thriller reading friends really like B.A. Paris so I picked up this book from the library. I enjoyed this psychological thriller! It was another book that I couldn’t put down, as I had to know what happened. The pacing was good with plenty of mystery.

Eight Nights of Flirting [5/5]

Hanukkah and New England based? No need to pull me to read this book and it turned out to be one of my favorite 2022 reads! It is an adorable story about two friends celebrating both holidays - Christmas and Hanukkah. I also loved how it took place in Nantucket. I throughly enjoyed this adorable romcom read!

Something from Tiffany’s [3/5]

When the movie was released on Amazon Prime, I had to read the book first. The book is always better, of course! The book was a very cheesy holiday romance read. It was cute, but not my favorite.

Time and Chance [4/5]

I learned of Peter from ‘The Crown’, who dated Queen Elizabeth’s sister Margaret. I had to read Peter Townsend’s memoir that came out in 1979. They couldn’t marry because Peter was a divorcee. It was interesting to read about his life, as there were a few chapters about Margaret. He kept it professional and had the nicest things to say. I’m so sad that they didn’t end up together!

Unfortunately there’s a few books that were DNF (Did Not Finish). I really tried to like those books but couldn’t be interested enough to continue reading:

  • Eight Perfect Hours

  • The Boys from Biloxi

  • The Christmas Bookshop
