November reads

A summary of my November reads:

The Last Housewife [5/5]

Whew! What an intense thriller. Dark, bleak, mind blowing, it made me gasp in many parts! I do have to warn you that some parts were tough to read. It focuses around a cult with sex and torture. I was glued to this book from the start to finish. This book literally scarred me, so going on the list as one of the best thriller.

Ivy (Willa Nash) [5/5]

This book has strong Gossip Girls vibe! I watched that show a long time ago and after reading this book I had a strong urge to binge watch it again! The book follows three set of couples, who are mostly in college. It was a fun fast paced read. I loved how we got three stories (as it was told from three POVs) instead of just one! This is full of secrets to keep your mind boggling!

It Ends With Us [5/5]

Ok… I gave into the Colleen Hoover hype. This was the first novel of hers that I’ve read. I can see why so many loved this book! I actually had plans to run some errands but the morning of, I made the mistake of picking this book up. I was captivated. I ended up not going out! I finished the entire book in one sitting (of course, beside food and bathroom breaks!). It was an intense read (trigger warning: domestic abuse) it even made me more aware of things I wasn’t familiar with.

It Starts With Us [4/5]

This is the sequel to ‘It Ends With Us’. It was as good as the first book. This gave a happy ending to the last book. A fast paced story with a good amount of thrill to keep you turning the pages. Definitely now a Colleen Hoover fan!

Mad Honey [3.5/5]

I went into this book blind. I wasn’t expecting it to be mostly a courtroom drama. I enjoyed the legal thrill aspect of the book, but there were many parts that dragged on. I found myself frustrated because some paragraphs would switch time period, which was confusing. The story itself, the plot line was great. Just wasn’t my favorite book of Jodi Picoult’s.

Kiss Her Once for Me [4/5]

A great book to start off the holiday season. I thoroughly enjoyed this fun quirky romance! I love fake dating tropes so this was just the perfect read. Would love to see this book adapted into a holiday movie!

Before I Do [4/5]

A fun romantic read that I finished in a day! I liked the alternating timelines and short chapters. It follows this girl who is about to marry, only to have someone from her past show up at the wedding as someone’s date. She reflects on the ‘what-ifs’ and fate… which made the book emotional! I really enjoyed this read.

Small Things Like These [5/5]

I love Claire Keegan’s books. They are short stories so this was a quick read. Her writing is so excellent that it truly transport me to Ireland. This book is a perfect read to start off the holiday season.

Unfortunately there’s a few books that were DNF (Did Not Finish). I really tried to like those books but couldn’t be interested enough to continue reading:

  • Run Time

  • As Good As Dead (this is the final book of the A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder - read the first two and skip the last book!)

  • The Christmas Spirit
